Wouldn’t it be great if you could just pick any well inspection company and trust that they know what they’re doing with your water tank or well pump? Unfortunately, not all well inspectors provide the same level of customer service and attention to detail. So how can you choose between the quality inspectors and the “not-so-much”?
Ackerson Pump Company of New Jersey has five suggestions for how to hire a good well inspector for your next water tank or water pump service.
1. Ask around.
Your family, friends, or co-workers may be able to offer you some valuable recommendations—or a word of caution. See who in your circle has recently had a well inspection, and ask them to rate the quality of service. If you’re new to the area, you can also check out online customer reviews for feedback.
2. Do some digging.
Don’t just settle for one friend’s advice, as great as it might be. We recommend that you follow up by researching recommendations. Spend some time on the well inspection company’s website, and look for their credentials, how long they’ve been around, and their overall professionalism.
3. Narrow down your options.
Based on your research, try to eliminate an inspector or two who doesn’t seem up to par. One way to do this, in case you just aren’t sure, is to give the well inspector a call and ask about the company’s services. Get a feel for their ability to communicate, professionalism, and willingness to answer your questions.
4. Interview three candidates.
Select three possible well inspectors, and take some time to ask them a few questions, whether in person or over the phone. Be sure to ask for a written estimate at this time, too!
5. Make your decision.
If you feel comfortable with a well inspector and they check out, then go ahead and say, “You’re hired!” Schedule a time for the inspector to come to your home to complete the well inspection and/or complete any water pump or water tank repairs.
